The Hausa Christians Foundation (HACFO) sees advocacy as a vital tool for restoring the dignity and freedom of our people. We speak and fight for those who cannot speak or fight for themselves. In our believe that all humans are created equal irrespective of tribe, gender or religion, we advocate for the upholding the sanctity of life, protection of fundamental human rights, religious freedom, girl child education and encourage peaceful coexistence and religious tolerance.

An overview of the key job activities and responsibilities:
- Work closely with HACFO’s Lead Minister and Board of Directors on an ongoing basis to develop campaign strategy, priorities, and goals.
- Manage the execution of all of HACFO’s advocacy work, advancing a coherent youth agenda
- Through legislative advocacy, ballot measure campaigns, communications campaigns and more
- Develop advocacy work plans and supervise staff and volunteers in advancing economic justice, freedom of religious beliefs, right to life and access to all dividends of government.
- Oversee the majority of our communications, including drafting, editing, message development, etc...
- Manage, support and work closely with HACFO’s Media Director to advance our communications goals
- Represent HACFO in various progressive coalitions, and collaborate regularly with our partners
- Manage a long-term campaign to advance freedom of religious rights in the Hausa Land and Northern Nigeria through organizing, creative communications work, leadership development and more.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Directs HACFO’s Advocacy Programs: With advocacy team and in coordination with HACFO staff, identify HACFO’s advocacy goals; develop and lead implementation of global, regional, and country-level advocacy strategies; work with organizational partners and networks; ensure coordination among advocacy staff for participation in conferences, partner events, trainings and grant monitoring and evaluation; and model good collaboration and communications with HACFO’s development, research and communications staff
- Manages the Advocacy Team: Builds a cohesive team united around, achieving HACFO’s 10-year and 3-year goals. Manages all aspects of the Advocacy Department including budget, planning, and staffing. Provides direction, mentoring and technical guidance to advocacy team members; and supports their professional and technical development. Performs other management and administrative tasks as required.
- Supports HACFO’s Country Strategy and Partners Overseas: Identify new alliances and partnerships for HACFO around the world; serve as a liaison between HACFO and international advocacy partners on specific joint projects, coordinating with internal departments as needed/appropriate; provide guidance to partners and other groups on advocacy use of HACFO’s research material; collaborate on HACFO strategies vis-à-vis multilateral and bilateral institutions working on our areas of interests.
- Develops, Monitors and Manages the Advocacy Division’s annual operating plan and budget, in collaboration with the HACFO’s Director of Operations. Allocates departmental resources to highest priorities and ensures the department stays on budget.

Participates in Senior Management Team: Serves with other Divisional Directors on organizational leadership group, representing the interests of the whole. Participates in the development and implementation of HACFO’s policies, practices and procedures. Ensures interdivisional cooperation to optimize workflow.
Participates in fundraising: Works cross-divisionally to create funding proposals for new and existing research; presents to donors and potential donors.
Serves as a public contact for HACFO’s Advocacy Research with media, donors and peers and in national and international professional settings.
